This three hour Venipuncture workshop includes a slide presentation, handouts, a personal pocket card with vital points, one-on-one instruction, a few little surprises and a bit of humor.

Topics covered:

• anatomy

• proper tourniquet application

• basic venipuncture procedure

• demonstration with arm mannequin, vein boards and your particular institution’s I.V. catheter

• tricks of the trade

• catheter guidelines

• complications of I.V. therapy

• question and answer period

Emphasis will be on proper technique, patient safety and patient comfort. I am also available for PICC and central line care and maintenance education and private instruction.
